Feature – Focus on Back-to-School
Back-to-School is not only for kids - adults should look at expanding their
horizons now that the lazy hazy days of summer are winding down. The area city
recreation centers not only have exercise classes for your body, but interesting
classes for your mind. Check out your local libraries for classes - or
maybe even join a book discussion group. Some of the area craft stores
also offer both free and low cost craft sessions.
All around us are learning experiences -
all we have to do is open our minds to new things. Life is about learning,
questioning, giving and loving. Do your part and go 'Back to School'.
Check out our 'Links' section for some of
the area offerings. Enjoy!
Ask the Experts
Q. My chenille sweaters have thin areas
showing after I've had them cleaned several times. Why?
A.
The yarns in a chenille sweater are made by weaving a pile fabric and cutting
it into strips, resulting in base yarns that are surrounded by fuzzy, soft
fibers - like a caterpillar. When the yarns are abraded in use and from
the necessary agitation in cleaning, some of the soft, fuzzy fibers may be
removed, which can cause complaints of thin areas or holes. Often, a
web-like appearance will remain in the area, which is actually the base yarns
in the material.
This damage usually occurs after the item has been exposed to repeated use and
care, but can still occur on relatively new items. This damage is
attributable to the manufacturer since it results from the fabric
construction.

And Before I Close.....
For that last fling of summer, the Auto-Rama Drive-In on
Lorain Road in North Ridgeville is open on
weekends until the weather turns really cold. So pile everyone in the
car and enjoy a first run film. The Drive-In celebrated its 40th
Anniversary and is a family owned business.
And did you pick up your free gift the
last time you picked up your drycleaning? We have commemorative
bookmarks at each of our locations. Next month, we'll have a 'sweet'
surprise for you.
