Household Sale

We are running our Annual Household Sale from February 1st through March 31st.  We are offering 20% off the dry cleaning price of blankets, quilts, down comforters, bedspreads, duvet covers and draperies.  Our gentle Adjust-A-Drape cleaning process restores colors and textures to your pleated draperies.  We assure smooth folds, squared corners, exact lengths and even hem lines. We also offer feather pillow renewal.  "What's this?" you may ask.   Sleep on lumpy, lifeless soiled down or feather pillows?  Bring them in to us for our pillow service. Pillow restoration involves emptying the feathers into a feather-cleaning machine that resembles a front-loading washer with a window in the door.  Then, as the drum turns, the feathers are fluffed and sanitized by an ultraviolet, germicidal light that kills the germs in the feathers and the sand or dust from old feathers is sifted away.  New feathers can be added to make your pillows plumper.  The feathers are then blown into a new ticking.

Feature – Focus on Closet Organization

We recently installed closet organizers in our master bedroom. While looking through the Big Box stores, I was amazed at all the tools/shelves/drawers that were available to hang and store clothing!  Here's a few tips on storing/hanging your valuable wardrobe. Although it's nice to have sunlight in your closet to help you find that special red blouse or blue shirt, sunlight can fade clothing very quickly.  So if you have a window in your closet, equip it with a room darkening shade to save your wardrobe. When you bring clothing home from Reehorst Cleaners, remove the plastic overwrap - your clothes need to breathe.  If you want to cover your clothes to protect them from dust, use a sheet and place it over the shoulder areas.  Try not to hang stained items back in your closet.  Bring them in before the stains have a chance to set into the fabric.  If you tell us what the stain is, we have a good track record of removing them.

I've included some links on the left side about organization and all the new-fangled thingies you can purchase to bring your storage solutions into the 21st century.

March - Spring and Baseball.

And Before I Close.....

Here's a recipe to enjoy for Super Bowl Sunday:

John Madden's Super Bowl Stew

1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. salt
2 1/2 lbs. bottom round, cubed
2 to 3 tbsp. vegetable oil
2 lg. onions, sliced
2 sm. green peppers, chunked
2 stalks celery, sliced
1 lg. clove garlic, pressed
3 lg. carrots, cubed
4 med. potatoes, peeled & cubed
1 sm. turnip, peeled & chunked
1 sm. rutabaga, peeled & chunked
3 c. beef broth
5 to 6 drops red pepper seasoning
1/8 tsp. marjoram
3 tbsp. parsley, chopped

Combine flour, pepper and salt on large piece of wax paper. Dredge beef cubes well on all sides with flour mixture. Reserve flour for thicker gravy. Brown meat in oil in large Dutch oven, working in batches if necessary. Remove meat. Saute onion, green peppers, celery, garlic in pan drippings for 10 minutes. Add carrots, potatoes, turnips, rutabaga, broth, red pepper seasoning, marjoram and parsley. Bring to a boil. Add meat. Cover; simmer 1 1/2 hours until meat is tender, adding more broth if mixture becomes too dry. For a thicker gravy, mix together 1/4 cup cold water and reserved flour mixture in small bowl and make a smooth paste. Remove meat and vegetables with a slotted spoon into serving bowl. Stir flour mixture into pan liquids. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture is thick and bubbly. Pour over meat and vegetables. Serve with a crusty French bread.

VARIATION: Add 1 red, sweet pepper instead of 2 green peppers and 1/2 pound (or one can) green beans.

ENJOY!
