Hearts

Besides being known for Valentine's Day, February is also Heart month. And what do the two have in common?  CHOCOLATE! Flavonoids are present in chocolate and have proven to be heart-healthy.  Dark chocolate is thought to be more beneficial than light, and even the fat in good quality dark chocolate is healthful in moderation.  So buy your sweetie some dark chocolate for Valentine's Day.

Feature – Focus on Household

comforter                           We are running our Annual Household Sale from February 15th through March 31st.  We are offering 20% off the dry cleaning price of blankets, quilts, down comforters, bedspreads, duvet covers and draperies.  Our gentle Adjust-A-Drape cleaning process restores colors and textures to your pleated draperies.  We assure smooth folds, squared corners, exact lengths and even hem lines. We also offer feather pillow renewal.  "What's this?" you may ask.   Sleep on lumpy, lifeless soiled pillows?  Bring them in to us for our pillow service. Pillow restoration involves emptying the feathers into a feather-cleaning machine that resembles a front-loading washer with a window in the door.  Then, as the drum turns, the feathers are fluffed and sanitized by an ultraviolet, germicidal light that kills the germs in the feathers and the sand or dust from old feathers is sifted away.  New feathers can be added to make your pillows plumper.  The feathers are then blown into a new ticking.

Ask the Experts

Q. How do I remove salt rings from winter slush splashing on my wool coat?

A.  Snow season is well underway.  With the snow comes the inevitable use of road salt, both on roads and on sidewalks, and that results in salt stains on coats and other garments.  Salt can cause many dyes on wool fabrics to temporarily change color (usually pink, orange, or brown). The color change appears in a splatter formation, and usually occurs on areas that are close to the ground, such as hemlines of coats or slacks.

Salt is not soluble in drycleaning, and can only be removed by water.  To remove salt rings, we, as your professional drycleaner, can generally flush the affected areas with steam or water.  It is best to leave this procedure to us since certain precautions, such as testing for colorfastness, must be taken.  Usually, once the salt has been removed from the fabric, the original color will return.  If not, we can treat your garment with special chemicals to restore the color.
