Household Savings
We are running our Annual Household Sale from February 1st through March 31st.  We are offering 20% off the dry cleaning price of blankets, quilts, down comforters, bedspreads, duvet covers and draperies.  Our gentle Adjust-A-Drape cleaning process restores colors and textures to your pleated draperies.  We assure smooth folds, squared corners, exact lengths and even hem lines. We also offer feather pillow renewal.  "What's this?" you may ask.   Sleep on lumpy, lifeless soiled pillows?  Bring them in to us for our pillow service. Pillow restoration involves emptying the feathers into a feather-cleaning machine that resembles a front-loading washer with a window in the door.  Then, as the drum turns, the feathers are fluffed and sanitized by an ultraviolet, germicidal light that kills the germs in the feathers and the sand or dust from old feathers is sifted away.  New feathers can be added to make your pillows plumper.  The feathers are then blown into a new ticking. The pillows are returned to you in just-like-new condition.

Feature Focus on Household Products

Common products found under most kitchen sinks may be acid or alkaline, and some may contain bleach or alcohol-based agents.  Some products may contain oily components that can also contribute to staining.

To prevent damage, clean kitchen linens, clothing, or other fabrics as soon as possible.  Remember, the longer the product remains in the fabric, the greater the chances that color loss - or even holes - will develop.

Acids can be contained in liquid hand soaps, hand dishwashing detergent, dishwasher rinse aid, pet care products, Febreze®, Orange Glo®, CLR® .

Bleach can be in automatic dishwashing detergents, household cleaning and sanitizing products, mildew removers, Comet® Cleaner, Cascade® Plastic Booster.

Alkaline products include Drano®, Windex®, and other glass cleaners, Fantastik® All-Purpose Cleaners, Formula 409®  Pine-Sol®, Mr. Clean®, Soft Scrub® Cleanser, pet care products, Lysol® wipes.

Alcohol products include hand sanitizing products, rubbing alcohol.

Ask the Experts

Q. How do I tell the difference between real and imitation suede?

A. The color of 'suede' used to be a good indicator as to its authenticity.  Who would dye a natural animalsuede coat skin pink, blue, or purple?  Today, many skins are dyed to imitate the range of colors used in the world of imitation suedes.  Natural suede is made by abrading an animal skin to produce a napped, velvet-like surface.  Suede skins usually contain inconsistencies in the surface hairs, skin defects from disease and wounds, and a coarser surface texture on the reverse side.

Imitation suede is made from synthetic fibers in a non-woven construction or with a flocked pile adhered to a woven or knit base.  The flocked pile suede is easily recognized by this base fabric, but the non-woven imitation suede can be difficult to distinguish from the real thing.  Clues that distinguish an imitation suede include a similar appearance on both sides of the fabric, a smooth, even nap, and a defect-free surface.  A label indicating that the garment should be cleaned like any fine fabric also suggests that the fabric is synthetic suede.  Natural suede should be cleaned by an acceptable leather-cleaning method, such as the one we provide at Reehorst Cleaners.  Imitation suedes are usually labeled as drycleanable.
